IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE PLATFORM

Connected YouTube — Automatic Stream Management

We are excited to announce a major platform update: Connected YouTube.

You can now connect your personal YouTube account directly to MyRaces.Live, and the platform will automatically create, start, and stop YouTube Live broadcasts on your channel — no more manual stream key management.

Here’s what changed:

  • Connect your YouTube account: Go to Stream Destinations > YouTube Channels in the portal and click “Connect My YouTube Account” to link your channel via a secure OAuth authorization.

  • Automatic YouTube Lives: When your stream event starts, the platform automatically creates a YouTube Live on your connected channel. When the event ends, the live is stopped for you.

  • Visibility control: Choose whether your YouTube Live is public, unlisted, or private when scheduling your stream event.

  • Available to all users: Connected YouTube is available on all subscription tiers (Free, Premium, and Pro).

Important

You must have at least one connected YouTube channel or one custom RTMP destination configured before you can schedule a stream event.

Important

You may see an “unverified app” warning during the YouTube account connection process. We are actively working to complete the verification with Google, but in the meantime, you can safely proceed with the connection by clicking on “Advanced” and then “Go to MyRaces.Live (unsafe)”. See YouTube Integration Privacy Policy for more details on what operations we perform on your channel and how we handle your data.

For detailed setup instructions, see Streaming to your own YouTube account.

What happened to the External YouTube Stream Key Field?

The “External YouTube Stream Key” field in the stream event creation/update form has been removed but you can still use a YouTube stream key if you prefer to manage your YouTube Lives manually.

To do this, simply save your YouTube stream key as a custom RTMP destination under Stream Destinations > RTMP Destinations, then select that destination when scheduling your stream event.

What happened to the Watch URL?

The Watch URL and MyRaces.Live-hosted streaming have been retired for new stream events as this is not something we can realistically offer for free. If you have past stream events that used a Watch URL, those links will continue to work as long as you do not delete the past stream event from your dashboard.

Warning

If you have past streams that relied on the Watch URL for replays, do not delete those past stream events from your dashboard. Deleting the event will cause the Watch URL to stop working.

Will we ever resume hosting streams on the MyRaces.Live YouTube Channel?

We are considering our options!

We have submitted a quota increase request to Google for our YouTube channel’s live streaming capacity. If approved, we may bring back streaming to the MyRaces.Live channel as an opt-in feature — meaning you could choose to have your stream appear on our channel in addition to your own. However, we cannot guarantee availability: broadcast slots on our channel will be limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis depending on how many streams are already scheduled for that day.
