Live Streaming Kit
Can the camera act as a Hotspot for other devices in the car?
In Short: Yes
With the latest firmware version (2.1.0.6), the camera now supports a hotspot mode. You can use this mode to provide other devices in the car with Internet connectivity. See our “MineA5 Hardware and Software” tutorial for more information on how to configure this mode.
Can I use your kit in open cockpit cars?
In Short: Yes but not under heavy rain without additional protection
Our kits can be mounted on 1.5’’ to 2’’ roll bars. For open cockpits, we recommend using an additional accessory to protect the camera lens from debris (see Ressource > Tutorials > “Using the MineA5 in open cockpit cars, and how to protect the camera lens.”). We do not recommend using the camera in open cockpit cars under heavy rain or, if you do so, to find a way to protect it from the rain.
Can I use your kit in off road racing cars?
In Short: It’s up to you…
We have not tested the camera much in offroad situations, so we don’t know at this point how well it handles the rough terrain and elements in offroad racing.
Can I mount the camera upside down and flip the image?
In Short: Yes
Yes there’s a camera setting that allows you to flip the image upside down.
Do any SIM card and mobile plan work with your streaming camera?
In Short: The MineA5 has two slots for nano size SIM cards.
The MineA5 requires a nano size SIM card. E-sims are not supported. For the best streaming experience, we recommend using a high speed, high priority, unlimited mobile data plan.
Tested Service Providers: * USA: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile * Australia: Telstra * Belgium: Spectrum and Proximus * Brazil: Claro
Known NOT to work: * Canada: Bell and Telus (Canada users should use an external hotspot over Wi-Fi or a US SIM with free roaming).
Note: If your SIM card is locked by a PIN code, remove it before transferring to the MineA5.
How do I activate a SIM Card for the MineA5?
In Short: Use the IMEI of a supported mobile phone to activate, then transfer the SIM.
Go to a Store (AT&T, Verizon, etc.): * Ask for a mobile data plan for your personal phone. * Select a 4G LTE plan with high speed/priority. * Once activated and tested in your phone, transfer the nano SIM to the MineA5.
Online Procedure: * Use the “Bring your own phone” option with your current smartphone’s IMEI. * Order a physical nano SIM. * Once activated in your phone, transfer to the camera.
Are we able to bond SIM cards between providers?
In Short: Yes
Yes, the MineA5 supports dual-sim cards bonding. Their bonding service is currently free and is very easy to setup: you just have to configure your streaming destination using the bonding channels instead of the single network channel.
Can I stream and record at the same time?
In Short: Yes
Yes, the MineA5 supports live streaming and recording at the same time.
Does the camera have its own battery?
In Short: Yes (About 2 hours)
The MineA5 has an internal battery that can stream for about 2 hours. For endurance races, use a 2 AMP power supply from the car or an external power bank.
How do I live-stream my radio communication as well?
In Short: Use SRC radio comms recorder
We recommend using the SRC radio recorder available in the accessory section of our shop.
Does the camera continue to record if the 4G connection drops?
In Short: Yes
If you started both streaming and recording, the recording would keep going even if the stream connection drops.
I already have a hotspot in the car, can I use my hotspot to stream?
In Short: Yes
The MineA5 supports streaming over both 4G or Wi-Fi.
